Chester identity management group GB Group has bought Advanced Checking Services (ACS).
ACS makes technology that electronically checks driving licences to help companies comply with health and safety and corporate manslaughter legislation.

GB Group has paid £420,000 for the Glasgow-based company in cash, although further sums may be payable over the next four years. The maximum GB Group will pay is £5m.

ACS’s technology uses the information from the DVLA to confirm a driver’s licence status including endorsements and entitlement to drive. It also has a driving licence checking application for the insurance sector aimed at the prevention of fraudulent claims.

GB Group said the deal would allow it to gain a foothold in the driving licence market and broaden the product portfolio of its DataAuthentication business.

Chief executive Richard Law added: “GB Group has achieved strong growth in the past two years through its ability to deliver solutions that enable organisations to understand their customers and employees more accurately.

“We believe that this acquisition will enable clients to ensure compliance with increasingly strict health and safety and corporate manslaughter regulations by managing the checking process much more efficiently.”
