East Lancashire-based Bell Trailers has agreed to sell to one of Europe’s leading equipment services providers, TIP Trailer Services, for an undisclosed sum. The management team of Bell Trailers will remain with the business and will continue to develop complementary business opportunities with Tip Trailer Services.
Nelson-based articulated trailer and rental sales firm, Bell Trailers, operates from a six acres site and works nationally with rental customers including firms such as Norbert Dentressangle, H & M Distribution to name a few. The business has grown organically since it was established in 1988 and now has a fleet of 1,400 trailers.
TIP Trailer Services has more than 50,000 units in its transport equipment fleet, operates over 70 branches, including one in Carrington, Manchester, in 16 countries providing leasing, rental, maintenance and other value-added services.
TIP UK general manager Mike Furnival said: “We are very excited about the acquisition of Bell Trailers as we are acquiring an excellent business which is fully focused on delivering quality equipment and service to their customers. The addition of TIP’s service products, combined with our UK and European network should only enhance the excellent service currently being provided.”
Bell Trailer’s Managing Director Michael Bell said: “The timing was right for us to complete this deal and we firmly believe that further growth will be achieved under the ownership of a company that we trust, and will continue to provide excellent service to our existing customers.”
Craig Richardson, Director at Dow Schofield Watts who led the deal and was assisted by Philip Sarthou, Corporate Finance Executive, commented: “I am extremely pleased we have been involved with the transaction and the successful outcome for all parties. The transaction will enable Bell Trailers to build on its historic and current success.”
