The region’s top performers over the last 12 months, were recognised by over 800 senior professionals gathered at Manchester Central for the Insider North West Dealmakers Awards 2012, which were compèred by veteran broadcaster and politician Gyles Brandreth.

Chris Maguire, editor of North West Business Insider, praised the winners and shortlisted companies who have kept the wheels of commerce turning despite another tough year. “The deals market may be hard but that’s not to say deals aren’t being done,” he said. “The people in the North West are facing the challenge head-on to make sure the region is driving the economic recovery. It’s vital that the media promote the good stories as well because this will boost confidence.”

Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year Winner: Dow Schofield Watts

Dow Schofield Watts (DSW) was established in October 2002, so the last 12 months represent its tenth year. Since its formation it has completed 108 deals with a combined value of £2.3bn. Its tenth year has been its most successful and the judges said they were impressed with the winner’s range of deals.

AIM Deal of the Year Winner:  Acquisition of Capscan by GB Group

The judges said this exciting £11.2m deal of a rival made it a worthy winner. Dow Schofield Watts, who nominated it, was appointed as GB Group’s retained financial adviser in 2010 and the firm’s in-depth understanding of its client’s business has repeatedly paid dividends.
