A private equity-backed IT, cloud and digital transformation specialist based in Manchester has expanded with the acquisition of a Warrington business. Ed Brentnall and Tomos Edwards from Dow Schofield Watts advised on the financial due diligence.

The takeover of Xicon Cloud by BCN Group is designed to strengthen its capabilities in managing and supporting business-critical applications in private cloud environments.

It will also provide the opportunity for BCN, which is backed by private equity firm Beech Tree, to broaden its product portfolio.

The acquisition is the third in the past 18 months for the group, which bought Leeds-based Blue Logic in 2019 and Runcorn’s Polymorph in February 2020.

Simon Kelf, chief executive of BCN Group, said: “The acquisition of Xicon Cloud significantly strengthens our cloud product and service offering and provides a tremendous opportunity for BCN Group to further cement itself as a leading provider of cloud solutions.

“In addition, I have been very impressed by the skills and talents of the Xicon Cloud team, who will be a great addition to BCN Group.”

Simon Heyes, chief executive of Xicon Cloud, added: “This exciting opportunity will allow both organisations and our customers to benefit from the joint capabilities of a larger team and wider product portfolios.”
