PHD Equity Partners – the fund management arm of the Dow Schofield Watts group – marked its 10th anniversary with a private reception which gave investors the opportunity to meet the companies they are supporting.
Over 20 investors attended the event at DSW’s Daresbury offices. They heard from CEOs or directors of each of PHD’s four current portfolio companies – the art supplies business Teaching Art, Canada travel specialists First Class Holidays, hardware products supplier Olympic Fixings and sealants manufacturer Hylomar.
In total over 70 individuals have invested in PHD since its launch in 2008. The maiden fund of £4.7m which was raised in the same year generated annual returns of 23% net of all fees over 9 and a half years. In 2015, a second fund of £20m was raised of which £12m has so far been invested.
Adam Dow of PHD Equity Partners said: “The reception offered investors an opportunity to hear directly from the companies and put their questions to management, thus giving them a better understanding of the individual businesses and a greater insight into PHD’s investment strategy.”
Andy Dodd, who leads PHD Equity Partners, said: “We continue to invest in strong growing businesses that fit our criteria and, after a busy 2017, we expect to conclude two more deals in our anniversary year. We are delighted that, in the ten years since its launch, PHD Equity Partners has become firmly established within the private equity arena as a strong and successful mid-market investor.”
