Alba Trees acquires Scottish bare root tree nursery

Alba Trees, a leading UK-wide supplier of cell-grown broadleaf trees, hedging and woodland management solutions and portfolio company of Cibus Capital, has acquired Christies of Fochabers, a well-established bare root tree nursery based in Scotland.

The acquisition strengthens Alba Trees’ production capabilities and supports its continued growth in supplying high-quality plant stock across the UK.

Dow Schofield Watts advised Alba Trees and Cibus Capital on the acquisition of Christies of Fochabers, providing strategic corporate finance support throughout the transaction.

The Dow Schofield Watts Midlands team advising on the deal comprised Harry Walker and Daniel Chouciño.

This transaction represents a significant strategic step for Alba Trees, as it enhances its supply chain and nursery footprint, positioning the business for future growth while continuing to meet growing demand from landscapers, developers, and local authorities.

On the transaction, Harry Walker, partner at Dow Schofield Watts, said: “This strategic acquisition reflects growing demand for reliable domestic tree nursery capacity to support woodland creation and long-term natural capital programmes across the UK.

Our buyside support for Alba Trees drew on our experience in executing buy-and-build strategies for clients across a number of sectors, including environmental services and the built environment”.
