DSW Legal launches incentive to help lawyers start their own law firm
DSW Legal, the legal division of business advisory group Dow Schofield Watts, has launched a breakout incentive designed to help entrepreneurial lawyers and established legal teams start their own law firm with the backing of a national professional services group.
With a particular focus on partners, senior lawyers and established teams, the programme offers legal professionals the opportunity to shape their own practice with greater autonomy and stronger alignment between effort and reward.
To help with the initial set up of the practice, until the end of September each team member is eligible for a break-out incentive of up to £50,000, together with start-up working capital funding.
The programme builds on DSW’s continued investment in its legal platform, following the recent appointment of James Mallender as Managing Director of DSW Legal. The division is focused on providing a scalable, supportive platform for entrepreneurial legal teams, combining operational independence with access to DSW’s brand, infrastructure and back-office support.
The offer builds on DSW’s existing legal offering, having acquired DR Solicitors in 2024. Since then, the firm has already added 10 new consultants and grown revenues by 11%.
It also builds on the success of DSW’s wider disruptive professional services model, which offers entrepreneurial individuals the opportunity to set up their own businesses. DSW network of licensees has now grown to 26, with 146 fee earners across 12 UK offices.
